Every sport has its defining moments – the plays, the triumphs, the feats that forever change its landscape. For skateboarding, that moment arrived on June 27, 1999, delivered by the undisputed pioneer of modern vertical skateboarding, Tony Hawk. It was the day he landed the first documented “900” — a breathtaking trick involving two-and-a-half mid-air revolutions on a skateboard. The air thrummed with anticipation as Hawk — after countless attempts — finally stuck the landing in front of a roaring X Games crowd. His immediate reaction? A pure, unadulterated cry: “This is the best day of my life.”
The trick landed on the half-pipe like an earthquake in the world of sports. Much like Babe Ruth's "Called Shot" bat, Serena Williams’ 23rd Grand Slam racket, or Michael Jordan’s "Flu Game" sneakers, Hawk’s 900 transcended a single athletic achievement. It was a redefining moment for skateboarding, propelling it into the global spotlight and cementing Hawk's status not just as a legend in his field, but as one of the most transformative athletes in the history of modern sports.

Within “The 900 Collection” lies an unparalleled opportunity to possess a tangible piece of this extraordinary history. These aren't just objects; they are direct connections to the moment a sport changed forever.

Legendary Skateboarder & Entrepreneur
Founder, The Skatepark Project (formerly the Tony Hawk Foundation)
The most recognized action sports figure in the world, Tony Hawk was just nine-years old when his brother changed his life by giving him a blue fiberglass Bahne skateboard. By fourteen he’d turned pro, and by sixteen he was widely considered the best skateboarder on earth. He was world champion 12 years in a row and is a 16-time X Games medalist. In 1999, he became the first skater to ever complete a 900, the holy grail of vert skating. Shortly thereafter, he teamed up with Activision to launch Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, now a billion dollar video game franchise. He has created a Tony Hawk brand that includes Birdhouse Skateboards, Hawk Clothing, and the Tony Hawk Signature Series sporting goods and toys.
Tony authored a New York Times bestseller and oversees his films, television and commercial production company, 900 Films. And in 2022, a biographical documentary film titled “Tony Hawk: Until the Wheels Fall Off” by award-winning director Sam Jones debuted on HBO, giving an in-depth look at Tony’s legendary career and personal life. He founded The Skatepark Project (formerly the Tony Hawk Foundation), which has given away over $10 million to over 650 skatepark projects throughout the United States that serve over six million visitors a year.
