A white matte RIAA certified "gold" record award presented to The Beatles to commemorate the sale of over 1 million copies of their 1968 single, "Hey Jude."

Sounding off with guest contributor: Alan Light
“Hey Jude” was the biggest hit of the Beatles’ monumental career, so it’s no surprise that the 1968 single was certified gold, for over 1 million copies sold. What’s especially notable about this plaque is that it comes from the collection of Julian Lennon—John’s eldest son, who was the inspiration for the song’s lyrics. Famously, Paul McCartney started writing the song when he was on his way to visit Julian in the midst of John’s divorce from his first wife, Cynthia, and began to sing “Hey, Jules.”
