Two of Linda Gray's original scripts from the production of Dallas (CBS, 1978-1991) dealing with the infamous shooting of J.R. Ewing. Both are in original red or gray wrappers, printed on white paper, and bound with brads. Both are signed in black felt-tip pen ink on the front wrapper by Gray.1. Season 3, Episode 24, “The Wheeler Dealer” by Barbara Searles, labelled “FIRST DRAFT / January 24, 1980” with the address for Lorimar Productions on the front. As drama at South Fork reaches a boiling point at the end of the third season, Sue Ellen starts drinking a lot again. This is the penultimate episode before J.R. is shot in episode 25, “A House Divided.”2. Season 4, Episode 3: “Nightmare” by Linda B. Elstad, labelled “FIRST DRAFT / May 22, 1980,” with the address for Lorimar Productions on the front. Gray gives a tour de force performance in this episode, in which Sue Ellen is plagued with nightmares about J.R.'s shooting and fears that she was the perpetrator. At the end of the episode, a detective reveals that J.R. was shot with his own gun and the only fingerprints on it belonged to him and Sue Ellen. Sue Ellen proclaims “Then I must have done it! I must have shot J.R.!” and is ultimately arrested. (Of course, fans of the show know that Sue Ellen was not really the shooter!).
