A FIFA World Cup 1st place winner's medal, presented to Pele as a member of the 1962 Brazil national team.

The seventh staging of the iconic FIFA World Cup was held in Chile between May 30 and June 17, 1962. Pele was rated the best player in the world heading into the event, and despite suffering an injury in the match against Czechoslovakia, Brazil would go on to win the tournament, thus defending their 1958 title and becoming the first country since 1938 to win back-to-back championships.

The front of the gold medal features a winged figure representing Nike, the ancient Greek goddess of victory, below the letters "F.I.F.A.," [Federation Internationale de Football Association]. The maker's stamp "Peka" is also visible in the upper right corner. The back of the medal features the words "Campeonato Mundial De Futbol Copa Jules Rimet, Chile, 1962" [World Football Championship, Jules Rimet Cup, Chile, 1962] surrounding a laurel wreath. The back of the medal is also stamped, "Peka" and "0.750."
