The shoes are made of red velveteen, leather, and a wood platform with a cutout heel. The Vivienne Westwood logo is embroidered on the forefront of upper and the interior lined in leather and marks “Vivienne Westwood London.”
The heel to toe measurement is 11.5 inches.
Vivienne Westwood is known for challenging tradition and rethinking British style in bold, playful ways. In her Harris Tweed Autumn-Winter 1987 collection, she played with ideas of the upper class and the monarchy, turning them into something exaggerated and ironic. Pearls and royal-inspired details were used across both menswear and womenswear, breaking down ideas of gender and status.
Boy George has been a longtime fan of Westwood designs and knew the designer personally during her lifetime. During an interview with Julien’s Auction Boy George said, “Vivienne Westwood is the mother of London style, 1000%. I just did the music for the Westwood show in Paris, and I was able to kind of write this whole is sort of soundtrack to the story of Vivienne.”
