A 2024 D’Angelico Deluxe Bobby Weir 3 semi-hollowbody electric guitar, serial #W2401396, in Satin Trans Wine. Owned and played by Bobbt Weir, founding member of the Grateful Dead and Dead & Company
Announced in 2024, the Bobby Weir 3 signature guitar features a 25” scale length three piece maple and walnut neck with a three-ply bound Ebony fretboard with 22 frets, a 16” fretboard radius, mother of pearl split block inlays, six gold Grover Super Rotomatic tuners, and mother of pearl inlays on the distinctive bound D’Angelico headstock. The semi-hollow body is made from laminated maple and finished in Satin Trans Wine with 5 ply binding, deco style wooden knobs, a bound plastic tortoise shell pickguard, a gold plated Tune-O-Matic style bridge and D’Angelico shield vibrato tailpiece, and bound f-holes. Equipped with two TV Jones Custom DA’Tron pickups with gold plated covers wired to a three way toggle selector switch and individual volume and push-pull tone controls for each pickup, allowing for combinations of the inner and outer coils. Includes D’Angelico hardshell case with D’Angelico hang tags, warranty card, and gold Schaller strap locks. Please note, this guitar will be signed by Bobby Weir.

The pedalboard includes a grey road case with numerous stickers and tape markings, some of which are labeled “BW WEIR.” Inside the road case are lists for sets 1 and 2 from the Dead Ahead Festival in Cancun, Mexico show on 1/13/2025. Also inside the case is a baggie of Jim Dunlop Jazz I picks with holes drilled through them for added grip, a broken lanyard card from the Grand Lido Negril Adults-Only Resort, an “I Am One Lucky Fucker” magnet from January 17-20, 2019 and a “Kiss Me I’m Dead” sticker.
And the amp, a Vox AC15HW1X hand wired 15 watt 1x12” combo with two EL84 power tubes, three 12AX7s in the preamp, and an EZ81 rectifier. Equipped with four inputs, a high and low for both the Normal and Top Boost channels, controls for Normal Master Volume, a Master Tone Cut, Normal Volume, a Bright Switch, Top Boost Volume, Top Boost Bass, and Top Boost Treble plus a Hot/Cool switch, a switch for bypassing the Master Volume, and a switch for dropping the amp’s output from 15 watts down to 7.5 watts. Big sounds come courtesy of a Celestion G12M Greenback speaker in a Fawn covered cabinet. Includes Vox amp cover.
