Julien's inaugural 'Bold Luxury Celebrity Fashion Auction: Redefining Style & Sustainability' is set to commence in the Peninsula Beverly Hills' Magnolia Room on September 24th.

Julien's Auctions is proud to unveil a cache of opulence that will make even the most seasoned fashionista swoon. Our inaugural "Bold Luxury, Celebrity Fall Fashion Auction" is brought to you in harmonious partnership with the famed Peninsula Beverly Hills.

Set to commence in the hotel’s beautiful Magnolia Room on September 24th, this auction event debuts as a meticulously-curated journey through iconic pop culture moments, sustainable style, and the undeniable allure of celebrity fashion.

A Kaleidoscope of Couture

Forget muted tones and minimalist chic; "Bold Luxury" is a riot of color and unapologetic extravagance. From Lady Gaga's Ken Borochov-designed crystal quartz choker, a dazzling testament to her 'Chromatica' era, to Issa Rae's custom Marc Bouwer hot pink velvet gown – channeling Barbiecore perfection at the film's Los Angeles premiere. This isn't just fashion; it's self-expression at its most vibrant.

Styled by Wouri Vice, the gown was a deliberate choice to reflect both Barbie's iconic style and Rae's character. Crafted from luxurious velvet for a "presidential feel", the dress embodied the bold, dignified essence of President Barbie.

In an interview with The Cut, the "Insecure" creator shared how the gown made her feel like her on-screen persona. The actress also credited her childhood Barbie play for sparking her screenwriting career, highlighting the doll's influence on her creative journey.

In a world increasingly conscious of its footprint, "Bold Luxury" is a breath of fresh air. It's luxury with a conscience, offering these pre-loved treasures a second life.

“It's better to go and buy something made ethically,” notable Hollywood wardrobe designer, Susan DeSanto, who styled Jennifer Garner in 13 Going On 30, told Julien’s. “It cost three times the amount of money that will last you ten times the amount of years.”

"Bold Luxury" dares to expound upon the brave statement that style and sustainability can coexist – and that true luxury is timeless.

An oblong sheer silk magenta scarf with animal print sequin motif at each end, no label or garment tags present.

Garner is seen wearing pajamas accessorized with this piece during a sleep over in the film. Jenna invites girls from her apartment building over for slumber party where she explains love and its complications, leading to an impromptu sing-a-long to Pat Benatar's song "Love is a Battlefield."

13 Going on 30 is a romantic-comedy where lead character Jenna Rink, who is thirteen, wishes she was thirty. Her wish is granted and she wakes up 30 years-old in life that has everything she wanted success, money, and a closet full of designer shoes but quickly realizes that it is all meaningless because none of it is genuine. This film is a cautionary tale about how it's never too late to change and rectify past mistakes.

This film has gone on to capture new audiences since coming out in 2004 with Ariana Grande referencing the film in her "Thank you, Next," music video.

The fashions that Susie DeSanto used have become viral outfits that continue to be revived by fashion enthusiasts; designer pieces like the rainbow Versace cocktail dress, Nanette Lepore jacket, and a Moschino Cheap & Chic novelty print day dress have become timeless styles seen on social media. DeSanto was able to accomplish a balance with a girly and high fashion wardrobe for the lead that was eye-catching while also blending into the story of the film.

Legendary designer Bob Mackie, known for his flamboyant creations and design ties to pop culture’s A-list talent, has hand-picked a selection that embodies his signature glamour. Mackie not only visited our Julien’s Studios to select “Bob’s Bold Luxury Picks,” but we made a house call to Mackie’s Palm Springs abode to capture Mackie in his most comfortable element, as he waltzed us down memory lane of his iconic creations, and shared some of his best-kept stories of his time designing for Hollywood’s elite.

A further tribute to the inimitable André Leon Talley also showcases his distinctive style, and demonstrates his enduring influence on the fashion world.

A Bob Mackie black strapless cocktail dress from his spring 1992 collection featuring Hollywood style icons, one being Betty Boop who inspired the bodycon mini dress.

A version of this particular design was worn by Margot Robbie in Barbie: The World Tour book by Margot Robbie and stylist Andrew Mukamal, published by Rizzoli New York. One of the looks featured in the book was a Spring 1992 design by Bob Mackie that paid homage to Hollywood style icons, one being Betty Boop, who inspired the bodycon, beaded, sequin, cocktail mini Robbie wore. The look was accompanied by a sketch illustrated and signed by Mackie. Robbie during her press tour, styled by Andrew Mukamal, wore an assemblage of custom and vintage designer pieces for the Barbie film press tour.

The strapless dress features a sweetheart neckline with a fitted silhouette and ruffled flounce an homage to the iconic mini dress worn by Boop in comic and film. There is a hidden zip closure at the back with a hook-and-eye closure. The interior has a built-in underwire bra and is lined. The flounce is lined with a hot pink silk satin for an added pop of color. Beading, sequins, and heart motifs embellished the dress with a single pink sequin heart at the back. There is a Bob Mackie label with sample number sewn at the interior.

Bernadine Morris for The New York Times (November 8, 1991) who reviewed the collection, wrote, "Lucille Ball, Mary Martin, Martha Graham, Betty Boop, Diana Vreeland, Rita Hayworth, Billie Holiday and Grace Kelly were the women who inspired the clothes as well as the production. Each was portrayed by one of today's popular models, who usually play themselves on the runway. With the aid of wigs, hair ornaments and the clothes they wore, the models became their characters."
