This June, Julien's Auctions once again proved its dominance in the auction world, curating a series of sales that captivated collectors, historians, and pop culture enthusiasts alike.

From the glitz and glamor of Hollywood's Golden Age to the elegance of British royalty, our June auctions showcased a diverse range of treasures, solidifying our reputation as a leading force in the global auction market.

Let's take a moment to revel in the dazzling highlights of this unforgettable month.

Hollywood Legends: Danger, Disaster & Disco: A Cinematic Extravaganza

Our "Hollywood Legends: Danger, Disaster & Disco" auction was a treasure trove of cinematic memorabilia, headlined by superhero artifacts and sci-fi wonders. We kicked off June with a blockbuster event that had us humming disco tunes and marveling at the genius of Irwin Allen with the ‘Master of Disaster’s original storyboards for "The Towering Inferno" and "The Poseidon Adventure." Viewing the intricate details and creative vision behind these iconic films was a true thrill for movie buffs and collectors alike.

A particular standout was the original illuminating dance floor from “Saturday Night Fever,” a mesmerizing relic of a bygone era that fetched a staggering $325,000! In the same sale, Marilyn Monroe’s Ceil Chapman black jersey evening dress commanded $254,000, not only further cementing Julien’s as an authority on Monroe memorabilia, but all things Hollywood.

Princess Diana's Elegance & Royal Collection: A Timeless Tribute

The month culminated in a royal affair that captured the hearts of millions worldwide. Our "Princess Diana's Elegance & Royal Collection" auction showcased an exquisite collection of gowns, accessories, and personal items that once belonged to the beloved Princess and other notable royals.

Witnessing the ethereal beauty of her Catherine Walker gowns and the elegance of her Victor Edelstein creations was a truly moving experience. A particular standout was Diana's iconic 1987 Victor Edelstein Magenta Silk and Lace Evening Dress. This iconic gown, famously worn in London on January 25th and in Hamburg, Germany on November 6, 1987, stole the show. After a flurry of competitive bids, it sold for an astounding $910,000, making it the day's highest earner and the second-most expensive Diana garment ever sold.

We carried the momentum into other impressive sales, including Diana’s shimmering Murray Arbeid Midnight Blue Tulle Diamanté Star Gown. Worn twice in 1986, once to the Phantom of the Opera premiere (October 1, 1986), and again to a dinner at Claridge's for King Constantine of Greece (July 6, 1986) – this dress is easily recognizable as one of Lady Di’s favorites. Diana was also photographed in the gown attending a ballet performance of Cinderella at the Royal Opera House on December 17, 1987. With an estimate of $200,000 - $400,000 – the winning bid soared to $780,000, reflecting the gown's iconic status.

Meanwhile, the beautiful Catherine Walker Black Velvet Evening Gown – we certainly cannot gloss over. This black velvet gown was designed specifically for Princess Diana, and commanded a respectable $571,000, five times its original estimate.
