This year promises an extraordinary journey through film history, encompassing nearly 1,000 marquee pieces from across seven decades of moviemaking, alongside a dedicated, deeply personal dive into the world of one of cinema's most enigmatic figures, David Lynch.

Once again, Julien's offers a rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to own a tangible piece of the magic that brought the silver screen's greatest stories to life.

The David Lynch Collection: An Intimate Invitation into the Surreal

Calling "Action!" on an extraordinary dimension to this year’s auction slate is “The David Lynch Collection,” an exclusive live and online event set to ignite our "Hollywood Legends" marathon on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time at Julien's Studios in Los Angeles. Consider this first-to-market auction an intimate invitation into the creative psyche of a living legend.

Comprising over 450 items directly from Lynch’s home, this remarkable archive offers a rare, unfiltered look at the personal artifacts and film-related pieces that have shaped his iconic work across cinema, television, music, visual art, and design. From props that graced his acclaimed films to the tools from his personal woodshop and paint supplies from his art studio, each item is a tangible thread connecting us to the source of his profound artistic vision.

Among the standout pieces, certain items immediately conjure the inimitable "Lynchian" atmosphere: David Lynch’s director’s chair, emblazoned with his name on the back, estimated at $5,000 - $7,000, offers a piece of the very space from which his unique directorial gaze shaped countless iconic scenes. For the ardent Twin Peaks devotee, the auction offers Lynch’s personally owned Black Lodge style red curtain and black and white zig-zag rug ($1,000 - $2,000), decorative pieces Lynch kept in his own home, including his personal music studio.

A deeply personal and historically significant artifact is Lynch’s personal 35mm print of his groundbreaking debut feature film, Eraserhead ($500 - $700), the very print that helped launch a career and define a genre. From Twin Peaks: The Return, fans will recognize the large framed photograph of a nuclear bomb explosion in Gordon Cole's office, screen-matched to the chilling seventh episode ($1,000 - $2,000). From Mulholland Drive, a group of four colorful prop menus for Winkie's Sunset Blvd ($500 - $700) offer a quirky, yet instantly recognizable, connection to the film's enigmatic narrative.

Beyond the cinematic, the auction delves into Lynch’s personal passions. His La Marzocco GS/3 home espresso machine ($2,000 - $3,000) speaks to his known love for coffee. A vintage tan chenille upholstered Boomerang sofa with wood legs and attached end table, the same model used in Lost Highway ($3,000 - $5,000), allows one to literally sit in the echoes of his film's aesthetic. Musicians and Lynch enthusiasts alike will be drawn to his 2012 Danny Ferrington custom console steel guitar with five fretted necks ($2,000 - $3,000), a unique instrument designed and played by Lynch himself. And for the audiophile, his personal collection of Blue Velvet record albums ($400-$600) offers a sonic portal into one of his most beloved films.

Julien's Managing Director of Entertainment Catherine Williamson eloquently states, "These historical and cherished pieces reflecting David Lynch’s singular artistic vision, as well as his passions and pursuits ranging from his director’s chair, espresso machine to his guitar, record collections and Twin Peaks style decor, come directly from the home of the visionary artist whose enigmatic films stirred our most imaginative and collective surreal dreams.”

Whether you're a connoisseur of contemporary blockbusters, a devotee of the Golden Age, or a lifelong fan of the "Lynchian" universe, this comprehensive slate of auctions offers an unparalleled journey through the heart of Hollywood. With bids accepted online, by telephone, in person, or via absentee bid, and the added convenience of cryptocurrency payments, this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime chance to bring home a piece of the magic, mystery, and transcendent creativity that has shaped cinema history.

Hollywood Legends: A Dual Celebration of Cinematic Eras

The "Hollywood Legends" auction itself is split into two distinct, yet equally captivating, days -- celebrating both the contemporary and classic eras of cinema.

Day One: Contemporary Hollywood (Thursday, June 19th)

The first day kicks off with a vibrant celebration of modern classics and genre-defining films. Leading the charge is an undeniably iconic piece of cinematic history: Harrison Ford’s test-worn and signed fedora from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This fur-felt fedora, personally selected by Ford during a fitting, is estimated at $25,000 - $35,000, offering a direct link to one of cinema's most beloved adventurers.

Horror aficionados will be thrilled by the original production-made head prop from John Carpenter’s chilling masterpiece, The Thing, directly from the personal collection of cinematographer Dean Cundey. This terrifying artifact carries an estimate of $50,000-$70,000, accompanied by Cundey’s signed production-used script and shooting schedules.

For a touch of musical Americana, the iconic hero prison costumes worn by George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson as the “Soggy Bottom Boys” in the Coen Brothers’ O Brother, Where Art Thou? will hit the auction block, each estimated at $2,000 - $3,000. Quentin Tarantino’s Academy Award-winning Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood contributes Leonardo DiCaprio’s screen-used Imperial Osterizer Blend-N-Cycle 10-Speed blender, famously used by Rick Dalton, estimated to fetch between $3,000 - $5,000.

Fans of the wizarding world can acquire the original illuminating wand prop used by Ralph Fiennes as "Lord Voldemort" in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire ($10,000 - $20,000), and an original hero wax seal Hogwarts acceptance envelope prop used by Daniel Radcliffe as "Harry Potter" in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone ($6,000 - $8,000). The auction will also feature the instantly recognizable original production-made "Mask of Loki" worn by Jim Carrey in The Mask ($5,000 - $7,000).

Sci-fi enthusiasts can boldly go with over 60 items from the Star Trek franchise, including a Borg regeneration alcove ($6,000 - $8,000). Other interstellar offerings include a six-foot filming miniature Jupiter 2 spaceship from Lost in Space ($10,000 - $20,000) and an original stunt leg prop part of the Maximilian robot from The Black Hole ($6,000 - $8,000).

A truly unique discovery is a VHS tape containing a 25-minute work-in-progress cut of a canceled and never-released animated Disney short called Swabbies, starring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy—unseen for over 40 years. The collection also includes items from the Estate of cult horror film director Anthony Hickox, with the centerpiece being an original production-used Puzzle Box prop from Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth ($3,000 - $5,000). For television drama fans, an original suit ensemble and topcoat worn by Jon Hamm as Don Draper in the pilot episode of Mad Men is estimated at $1,000 - $2,000.

Day Two: Classic Hollywood (Friday, June 20th)

The second day shifts focus to the Golden Age of Hollywood, showcasing treasures from legendary films, creators, and stars. A significant highlight is a collection of nearly 80 items from the Estate of Paddy Chayefsky, the celebrated playwright and screenwriter. This includes his 1976 Best Screenplay Golden Globe for Network, his 1975 annotated Network script, a framed prop award honoring newsman Howard Beale, his 1971 Best Screenplay Motion Picture Golden Globe for The Hospital ($8,000-$12,000), and his 1955 Cannes Film Festival Palme D'Or for Marty ($8,000-$12,000)—an especially significant piece as it was the inaugural Palme d’Or award.

Just days after what would have been her 99th birthday, rare and intimate artifacts belonging to the iconic Marilyn Monroe will be available, including a 1960 sterling silver cigarette box ($4,000-$6,000) and an original gouache and ink Let's Make Love drawing signed by Marilyn, Yves Montand, Tony Randall, and Arthur Miller ($10,000-$15,000). Also on offer are a rare 1955/1970s black and white photograph, contact sheet print, and negative from the set of The Seven Year Itch ($400-600), and a 1998 print from Richard Avedon’s iconic 1957 session with the star ($1,000-$2,000).

A truly show-stopping piece is Judy Garland’s distinctive white enamel and gold-painted stars microphone, featuring her name, created for her 1963-64 variety show, The Judy Garland Show ($6,000-$8,000). Other highlights include an Edith Head-designed ensemble worn by Natalie Wood in The Great Race ($1,500 – $2,000), and David O. Selznick’s telegrams regarding Vivien Leigh’s Gone With The Wind contract ($400-600). A dazzling collection of vintage jewelry and figurines related to Josephine Baker will also be auctioned, including a circa 1930s Art Deco Albert Flamand "Oiseau des Iles" Josephine Baker branded bakelite and feather cuff bracelet ($1,500-$2,500) and an extremely rare 1934 Zouzou / Josephine Baker branded cuff bracelet with a secret compartment and mirror ($1,000-$2,000).

As Catherine Williamson, Managing Director of Entertainment, Julien’s Auctions, aptly puts it, "Many of these rare pieces have been unseen since their production and appearances on the screen and will be coming out of the vaults to be offered to the public for the first time.” This “Hollywood Legends” event promises to be a truly unprecedented opportunity for collectors and fans to own a piece of the magic that has shaped cinema history.
