Julien’s Auctions Press Preview at The Peninsula Beverly Hills Solidifies New Chapter in Cultural Assets
Julien’s Auctions and The Peninsula Beverly Hills partner to transform celebrity archives into an immersive guest experience.

On Tuesday, March 17, Julien’s Auctions transformed a suite at The Peninsula Beverly Hills into a high-fashion time capsule. The exclusive press day offered a first look at the "Bold Luxury" collection from Gwyneth Paltrow, marking the start of a significant new partnership between the legendary auction house and the global hotel conglomerate.
This collaboration isn't just about a change of scenery; it’s a strategic move to reposition auctions as immersive cultural events rather than mere transactions. By inking this deal, The Peninsula provides a sophisticated venue for Julien’s to showcase what is increasingly being viewed as a new asset class: cultural storytelling through fashion.
Gwyneth Paltrow’s Style. Your Way.
The centerpiece of Tuesday’s preview was "The Lexicon of Style: The Archival Edit," featuring pieces from the goop founder’s personal vault. The collection, which goes under the hammer on March 24 and 25, bridges the gap between contemporary trends and Hollywood history.

Redefining the Auction Experience
For The Peninsula, which is currently celebrating its 35th anniversary, the partnership is a way to modernize the guest experience across retail and hospitality. Hotel Manager Rebecca Goldberg said the goal is to dismantle the idea that auctions are "reserved for a very specific audience" by offering immersion and context.
Gabriela Schwartz, head of luxury at Julien’s, noted that the demand for these items has shifted. Pointing to a recent Bob Mackie gown worn by Sabrina Carpenter that sold for 17 times its estimate, Schwartz emphasized that these objects are now seen as evolving assets rooted in culture.
What’s Next?
The Paltrow auction is only the first in a series of planned activations at the hotel. Upcoming events will lean heavily into pop culture nostalgia and Hollywood glamour. “And Just Like That…” will feature wardrobe and artifacts from the hit TV series, while “100 Years of Marilyn,” presents itself as a curated retrospective dedicated to Marilyn Monroe.
This partnership signals a real shift in how luxury collectors interact with history — once again moving the Julien’s Auction’s block back into the heart of Beverly Hills.
