Night 1 of Julien's and TCM's Hollywood Legends raked in a staggering $1 million -- three times its original estimate.

The inaugural night of Julien's Auctions and TCM's "Hollywood Legends: Danger, Disaster & Disco" event exceeded all expectations, raking in a cool $1 million – three times the original estimate. This dazzling display of cinematic memorabilia drew bidders from across the globe, both in person at a VIP reception at NYA Studios in Los Angeles and online.

Marilyn Monroe, the eternal icon, once again proved her star power with a Ceil Chapman black jersey evening dress, worn in 1953, selling for a staggering $254,000. The dress, which accompanied Monroe and Joe DiMaggio to an event hosted by Bob Hope, outshone its original estimate by eightfold.

The auction showcased relics from the collection of the legendary "master of disaster," Irwin Allen. An original large-scale filming miniature of the USOS Seaview submarine from "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" surfaced, fetching $222,250. Meanwhile, a "Jupiter 2" Stunt Spaceship from "Lost in Space" blasted off to $65,000.

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the appearance of an original Ark of the Covenant prototype used in the making of "Raiders of the Lost Ark." This piece of cinematic history, utilized for lighting and pyrotechnic testing, fetched $101,600, well above its estimate.
