'Frasier' Fans Relive Cafe Nervosa at Julien's Seattle Exhibition
Pop culture nostalgia beams during Julien's Auctions' 'A Frasier Exhibition' celebrating the TV show and iconic items from Frasier's penthouse up for bid in 'Channel Surfing' on May 7-8.

The nostalgia of witty banter, intellectual sparring, and, of course, Frasier Crane's impeccably decorated Seattle penthouse was on full display on Friday, April 18th, when fans joined Julien's Auctions for a Cafe Nervosa pop-up experience at the Seattle Armory.
To celebrate this iconic series and our upcoming "Channel Surfing: A Broadcast to Binge" auction, we lovingly recreated a slice of Frasier's world on Friday, April 18th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Guests stepped into our recreation of Frasier's beloved coffee shop, a haven for intellectual discourse and the occasional sibling rivalry. Many even had the chance to take a photo amidst a true-to-life backdrop and real artifacts from the Frasier set! And to complete the experience, everyone enjoyed a complimentary 4oz cup of exquisite coffee, courtesy of Seattle's very own gem, Caffe Vita.
The social and press moment was a unique opportunity for TV fans to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of one of television's most cherished comedies -- and folks certainly took in the vibes of Cafe Nervosa, as one excited fan broke out into full song, singing the iconic Frasier theme while enjoying a free Caffe Vita brew.
And speaking of cherished, the very essence of Frasier's refined taste was embodied in his iconic Seattle penthouse. For eleven glorious seasons, this sophisticated sitcom graced our screens, not only delivering sharp comedy but also offering a masterclass in elegant living. His penthouse at the fictional Elliot Bay Towers wasn't just an apartment; it was an extension of his personality – cultured, discerning, and with a touch of unapologetic grandeur.

The centerpiece of that iconic living room, the very sofa that witnessed countless sherry-soaked conversations and father-son tête-à-têtes, was a mocha suede rectangular design, famously declared by Frasier himself to be "an exact replica of the one Coco Chanel had in her Paris atelier." While Martin's unimpressed grunts often provided comedic relief, Frasier's insistence on such refined taste spoke volumes about his character. This wasn't just a piece of furniture; it was a statement, a tangible link to a world of high fashion and artistic sensibility. And incredibly, this very sofa, a silent observer to some of television's most memorable moments, is part of our "Channel Surfing" auction. Imagine owning a piece of television history, a sofa that embodies Frasier's sophisticated charm!
The elegance didn't stop there. The light wood neoclassic coffee table, with its distinctive black globular legs, anchored the living space, a stage for art books and the occasional strategically placed wine glass – accoutrements that further emphasized Frasier's cultivated lifestyle. Even the seemingly simple round side table, a "floating ball" design by Nick Berman, chosen with meticulous care from the Mimi London Showroom, spoke to a dedication to design and quality. Accompanied by the brown earthenware vessel, it reminded us of the thoughtful details that made Frasier's apartment so believable and aspirational.
And let's not forget the art that adorned those walls. The "Cobalt Plain" wall sculptures by Laddie John Dill, a diptych of textured cobalt-blue and vibrant orange-yellow, added a contemporary artistic flair to the classic backdrop. These weren't just decorative pieces; they were conversation starters, reflecting Frasier's appreciation for modern art.
Similarly, the oversized "Rauschenberg Venice USA" poster, prominently displayed in the hallway, underscored his intellectual curiosity and connection to the art world. As GQ astutely noted during the reboot's premiere, these design choices were deliberate, painting a picture of a man who knew his Eames from his Wassily, his Armani from his Rauschenberg.
