April has proven to be another exhilarating chapter here at Julien's Auctions with a whirlwind of landmark announcements, exclusive previews, and unforgettable encounters that have set the stage for a thrilling May. From the grounds of television history to the enduring elegance of royalty and the raw energy of rock and roll, April truly offered a captivating glimpse into the treasures we're bringing to the global auction block for fellow collectors and pop culture enthusiasts.
The month included a sensational cross-country collaboration, as Julien's Auctions partnered with the immersive New York City experience, RiseNY, for the month-long exhibition "Channel Surfing: A Broadcast to Binge." Running from April 8th through May 8th, this unique showcase has brought a curated selection of iconic television artifacts directly to the heart of Times Square. It's been an extraordinary opportunity for fans to get up close and personal with pieces that defined generations of viewers, particularly those with deep ties to the Big Apple's rich television landscape. This partnership with RiseNY has masterfully woven together the story of New York City and the iconic television shows that captured its spirit.
Julien's Visits TODAY Show
Speaking of television legends, we were thrilled to see artifacts from our "Channel Surfing" auction take center stage on NBC's TODAY show! Our own Catherine Williamson joined hosts Carson Daly and Savannah Guthrie to share insights into the incredible collection, sourced from a single, passionate collector. The segment highlighted the remarkable New York-centric pieces, including Saturday Night Live treasures, offering a national audience a tantalizing preview of the history heading to auction. It was a fantastic moment, underscoring the cultural significance of these artifacts.
Frasier Fills Your Cup
Adding a touch of Seattle charm to our April festivities, we celebrated the enduring legacy of the beloved sitcom Frasier with "A Frasier Exhibition." On Friday, April 18th, fans joined us for a delightful Cafe Nervosa pop-up experience at the Seattle Armory. We lovingly recreated a slice of Frasier's world, offering guests the chance to step into a true-to-life backdrop of the iconic coffee shop and even view real artifacts from the Frasier set! The atmosphere was buzzing with nostalgia as attendees enjoyed complimentary coffee courtesy of Seattle's own Caffe Vita, with one enthusiastic fan even serenading the crowd with the show's memorable theme song.
This special event served as a perfect prelude to our upcoming "Channel Surfing" auction, highlighting the sophisticated world of Frasier Crane and the treasures from his iconic Seattle penthouse that are heading to the auction block.

Continuing our exploration of the small screen, we hosted a truly unique "Killer TV" Pop-Up Exhibit on Tuesday, April 29th, at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Seattle's Record Store Day welcomes Melvin's Touring Van
Beyond the realm of television, April also brought exciting news from the world of music. The legendary Melvins' touring van, a piece of Seattle grunge history adorned with original artwork by Kurt Cobain, made a special appearance at Seattle's Easy Street Records and Silver Platters on April 12th. This exclusive preview offered fans a rare glimpse into the raw energy of the era and the close connection between the Melvins and the iconic frontman of Nirvana.
