Witness the brilliance of Bob Dylan, a master of both the guitar and harmonica, whose legendary performances seamlessly intertwined these instruments, creating a unique and unforgettable sonic tapestry.

Bob Dylan’s poetic lyrics and voice have weathered countless storms, and the Beatles cornerstone is as revered for his artistry as he is for his enigmatic persona. While his words have woven themselves into the fabric of modern music, let's not overlook the instruments that have served as vessels for his profound expressions.

This January 18th, our "Celebrating Bob Dylan: The Aronowitz Archive, T Bone Burnett, & More" auction presents a unique opportunity to acquire not just musical instruments, but pieces of Dylan's own creative journey.

The Harmonica: An Intimate Expression

The signed harmonica, with its accompanying Letter of Authenticity from Jeff Rosen, offers a more intimate glimpse into Dylan's creative process. This particular M. Hohner Marine Band harmonica in the key of C, has been a constant companion throughout Dylan's career with its raw, emotional sound perfectly capturing the essence of his early folk music.

While a seemingly simple instrument, this signed instrument transcends its material value, becoming a tangible connection to the artist himself. It's a reminder that even the most iconic musicians often find profound expression in the simplest of tools.

The Telecaster: A Constant Companion

The 1983 Fender Telecaster offered here, with its "BOB DYLAN" stamps and provenance directly from Cesar Diaz, paints a vivid picture of Dylan's musical evolution. While primarily known for his acoustic guitar and harmonica, Dylan has always maintained a close relationship with electric instruments.

This Telecaster, likely a part of Dylan's arsenal during the late 80s and early 90s, speaks to a period of exploration and reinvention. The "Never Ending Tour" saw him constantly evolving his sound, and this Telecaster undoubtedly played a role in that sonic evolution.

According to the included copy of the Letter of Provenance, Dylan owned and played this guitar for many years before gifting it to famed amplifier technician and musician Cesar Diaz, who worked with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, Patti Smith, Neil Young, and more.

Diaz, who began working with Dylan in 1986, stepped into the role of guitarist in 1990 when G.E. Smith left the band. Diaz played 50+ shows with Dylan during the 1990 Neverending Tour and the 1991 Second Fastbreak tours. Cesar Diaz played a Telecaster similar to this one during Dylan’s performance at the 1991 Grammy Awards, where Bob Dylan accepted his Lifetime Achievement award.
