Mel Blanc is best remembered for his longtime work at Warner Bros. Studios where he invented voices for their cast of irreverent Merrie Melodies and Looney Tunes cartoon characters including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Porky Pig, Tweety Pie, Sylvester the Cat, Woody Woodpecker, and literally hundreds of others. Any kid (or adult) who watched Saturday morning television from the late 1940s to the current day definitely knows the phrases “Ehh, what’s up, doc?” and “Tha, tha, tha, that’s all, folks!” – both voiced by Blanc for decades.

All the lots on offer in this auction were consigned directly by Noel Blanc, Mel’s only child, who himself is a talented voice actor, keeping the family tradition alive into the 21st century. Noel thinks the time is right to share his father’s treasures with his multitude of fans, and he’s confident all items will find a good home.

Some of the special pieces from Mel Blanc’s Estate include a 14K gold money clip gifted to him by his lifelong friend, Jack Benny, a stunning 14K gold ID bracelet engraved “Mel Blanc,” Blanc’s 1942 ID card from Warner Bros. Pictures, Inc., countless other ID cards from Southern California department stores and civic groups, many of Blanc’s passports and driver’s licenses, signed contracts for voicing Bugs et al., and numerous awards presented to Blanc who was not only wildly talented, but was a longtime humanitarian, doing good for others throughout his life.

Mel Blanc’s legacy can still be “heard” today in the immortal Warner Bros. cartoon characters he voiced, and we hope you’ll participate in this fun auction related to this wonderful man who brought joy and laugher to millions of people.
