THE ICON Fall Edition 2020 This year has been like no other. In the midst of a global pandemic, we have had to alter slightly howwe do business, but that doesn’t mean it’s all bad. In fact, we set auction history on June 19 in Beverly Hills when Kurt Cobain’s Martin D-18E sold for a record $6.01 million. For three days inmid-September fromour Beverly Hills location we are proud to present Bill Wyman’s vast archive that the Rolling Stones bassist has been collecting, documenting, and storing since the band formed in 1962. This sale features nearly all of the important instruments, equipment and wardrobe from rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest group, offering fans a singular opportunity to own these historic pieces. Also represented are awards, records and other interestingmemorabiliameticulously documented by “the Quiet One” himself. Heading into the Wyman weekend in Beverly Hills is our MusiCares Charity Relief Auction to benefit MusiCares, the charitable foundation of the Recording Academy® to provide aid to artists andmusic community professionals devastated by the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. Other charities that will benefit from this auction through designated lots are the Grand Ole Opry Trust Fund and The Petty Family Foundation. And on the subject of charity, in this issue we highlight our April 4 & 5 “Property from the Estate of Doris Day” virtual online event that far exceeded a pre-sale estimate of between $300,000 and $600,000, generating nearly $3 million (US) to benefit the Doris Day Animal Foundation.
