37 JESSE OWENS 1936 BERLIN OLYMPICS DISPLAY A framed display commemorating the 1936 Berlin Olympics and Jesse Owens’ triumphs at those Olympics in Berlin, Germany. The display features an original 1936 Berlin Olympics pennant and black and white photograph of Owens signed and inscribed in black marker: “To Jim, My Best to you always, Jesse Owens.” Also included are three medals from this Olympics including an official Berlin Olympics participation medal; a postage envelope from the 1936 Olympics; a First Day of Issue U.S. postage envelope dated September 10, 1998, in honor of Jesse Owens; a medal labeled “Hauptman Fiesler 98 Gr. Reg/ Ein Volk. Ein Reich. Ein Führer”; a document with details of a remembrance medal awarded to Heinz Albrecht by Adolf Hitler with a stamped Hitler signature; tickets to 1936 Olympics events; and the program from the City of New York’s “Welcome Olympians” event. The cover of the program is signed by 1936 Olympics athletes Jesse Owens, Helen Stephens, Jimmy LuValle, Eulace Peacock, Fritz Pollard Jr., Katherine Rawls, Ada Lunardoni, and Elizabeth Ryan. The program also includes signatures by boxer Jack Dempsey, swimmer Gertrude Ederle, New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia, and tap dancer Bill Robinson.
