Julien’s Auctions is pleased to announce its 2013 Annual Hollywood Legends auction on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6, 2013 to be held at the Julien’s Auctions Gallery in Beverly Hills, California.
This extraordinary auction, including over 800 items from the history of Hollywood, Americana and Royalty has something for every collector. Contained in this auction are props, screen worn costumes, personal wardrobe, behind the scenes films, artwork and property from the personal and professional lives of your favorite celebrities.
The auction includes archives of images from over 6000 films including more than 80,000 images from the earliest Hollywood productions — representing almost 100 years of Hollywood history. These will be sold beside costumes worn by Anna May Wong, Claudette Colbert, Barbara Stanwick, Maureen O’Sullivan, Christopher Reeves, Paulette Goddard and many more. Also offered for sale are items from the personal wardrobe of Marilyn Monroe, Tippi Hedren, Elizabeth Taylor, Frank Sinatra and Brittany Murphy. Of special note in this sale is a hat worn by one of the munchkin characters in The Wizard of Oz originally purchased by a young man who was desperate to own something from the landmark 1970 MGM back lot auction.
Science Fiction fans will want to bid on the William Shatner laser rifle designed for the second pilot episode of Star Trek television franchise, Star Wars production slide images, and a collection of production props and costumes from Stargate. The Green Hornet drove around in style in his Imperial Crown “Black Beauty.” Julien’s offers the only know vehicle to survive intact from the 2011 production of The Green Hornet.
Legendary actor and Martial artist and actor Bruce Lee battled in the hall of mirrors facing the evil Han armed with a metal claw. This claw, along with other Bruce Lee photographs, books, signed items and weapons, are offered in this landmark auction.
Handsome James Dean was the focus of many photographers. A collection of more than 30 photographs taken by five different photographers offers a glimpse into the life of the enigmatic and ultimately tragic star.
There are film and television props that become icons independently. The genie bottle from I Dream of Jeannie is just such a prop. This bottle, known as The Original Golden Vines bottle, was created by artist Robert Purcell and is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Larry Hagman.
Rarely do movie goers get to glimpse behind the curtain and see actors auditioning for their roles. For the first time Julien’s offers a collection of casting videos including Leonardo DiCaprio’s audition for the role of Ponyboy in The Outsiders, and Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr., Keanu Reeves and Dermot Mulroney for the film Backdraft, Sandra Bullock, Gwyneth Paltrow, Julianne Moore, Helen Hunt and others for roles in Jurassic Park, David Arquette, Adrien Brody, Noah Wylie, Ben Affleck, and Lisa Kudrow auditioning for roles in the film Mr. Wrong, Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Patrick Dempsey and others for roles in A Beautiful Mind, and more.
Two different films capture Marilyn Monroe on the set of The Misfits. In one Monroe is seen off camera with her husband and meeting fans. In the other, Monroe is performing in a scene that was eventually cut from the film. Both show private glimpses into the life of the ultimate celebrity.
