Darren Julien is the founder of Julien's Auctions and President/Chief Executive Officer. A third-generation entrepreneur, Darren has been in the auction industry for his entire business career. As CEO he is charged with the overall vision and expansion of the Julien’s brand. He is also responsible for creating, planning, implementing and integrating the strategic direction of the organization and heads the Global Leadership team. He is a graduate of the Reppert School of Auctioneering which was established in 1921 and earned a Reppert Diploma, a sign of excellence in the field. It is his experience, expertise and enthusiasm that has propelled Julien's Auctions to the market leader position.
Darren’s unique understanding and sincere passion for the entertainment and sports memorabilia markets led him to found Julien’s Auctions in 2004. His network and marketing talents fueled early sale partnerships with Christie’s and Sotheby’s including Property from the Estate of Johnny Cash, CHER, and designer Bob Mackie along with Rock and Roll and Film sales.
The innovative marketing campaigns and environments created by Julien has led the auction house to the dominant position it maintains in the industry. Collaborating with the famous and exclusive, Julien’s produces high profile auctions around the world, customized for particular markets and collectors. With high profile events in the sports, film, music and art markets, Julien’s has received international recognition for its auction events that attract thousands of collectors, investors, fans and enthusiasts from around the world. Darren has been responsible for the sales of iconic artifacts and notable collections including the property of Marilyn Monroe, PELÉ, Mohammed Ali, Bette Midler, Joan Collins, John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Lady Gaga, the street artist Banksy, CHER, Michael Jackson, U2, Jimi Hendrix, Barbara Streisand, Bob Hope, Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra, among many others.
In 2016, Darren oversaw the three-day auction event of MARILYN, featuring property of famed acting coach Lee Strasberg, Lord David Gainsborough-Roberts and the infamous Jean Louis dress the legend wore at Madison Square Garden in 1962. Julien’s Auctions was recently awarded its second placement in the Guinness Book of World Records for the sale of the world’s most expensive dress ever sold at auction, the Marilyn Monroe “Happy Birthday Mr. President” dress which sold for $4.81 million. In 2009 Julien’s first achieved placement in the Guinness Book of World Records for the sale of Michael Jackson’s white glove which sold for $480,000, making it the most expensive glove ever sold at auction.

A proud native of Indiana and self-described “world traveler”, Darren lives in Los Angeles, New York and London.
Martin J. Nolan is the Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer and a principal of Julien’s Auctions. As CFO, he is responsible for assisting in formulating the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives. He also manages the accounting, human resources, transaction processing systems, and legal and tax departments. As Executive Director, Nolan monitors and directs the implementation of strategic business plans and is a member of the Global Leadership team that manages Julien’s Auctions worldwide.
Prior to joining Julien’s in 2005, Nolan’s extensive financial background included executive positions on Wall Street for over a decade with Merrill Lynch and J.P. Morgan Chase. A graduate of Reppert School of Auctioneering, Martin earned a Reppert Diploma, the sign of excellence in the field of auctioneering. Martin’s efforts are also concentrated on developing and expanding the company’s presence in Europe, Australia and Asia where Julien’s has maintained continued success with Nolan’s impressive global relationships. He has led Julien’s to build an ever-expanding international client base managing the company’s proprietary relationships with international exhibition partners such as the Museum of Style Icons in Ireland, The Museo de la Moda in Chile and The Mall Galleries in London which presented the 2016 record-breaking auction Pelé: THE COLLECTION featuring property of the three-time World Cup Champion, FIFA Player of the Century and Brazilian Football icon.
Nolan’s passion for popular culture and the auction industry is only matched by his dedication to philanthropic efforts alongside Julien’s Auctions. A firm believer in the power of celebrity, Martin routinely assists charities in raising much needed funds and has conducted auctions for numerous high profile organizations including MusiCares, the Recording Academy charity that provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in need.

Nancy Valentino is Chief Operating Officer of Julien’s Auctions, responsible for Global Operations, along with the design and execution of business strategy, plans and procedures. Based in New York and Los Angeles, she is part of the Global Leadership team that manages Julien’s Auctions worldwide.
Through April 2015, she was Senior Vice President, Communications & Brand Development for Time Inc., one of the largest branded media companies in the world. Valentino was responsible for all business, social, crisis, consumer, digital and internal communications, as well as production development for the Entertainment, Fashion, News, Sports and multi-cultural brands including PEOPLE, InStyle, TIME, Fortune, Sports Illustrated and Essence. During her tenure, the multi-media content brands and executives in her portfolio were recognized with numerous industry accolades including “Best Digital Engagement,” “Editor of the Year,” “Publisher of the Year,” and top positions on both the media “A-List” and “Hot List.” Nancy was named one of Folio’s 2015 “Top Women in Media” for Industry Leadership.
Valentino also led content development within the group whose many productions included PEOPLE and ABC’s “The Year In” in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, PEOPLE’s “Half Their Size” on ABC, “25 Years of Sexy: PEOPLE Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive” on ABC, “Heroes Among Us” on CBS, Entertainment Weekly’s “World of Pop Culture” on VH-1, InStyle’s Project Accessory, EW’s “The Writer’s Room” on The Sundance Channel, PEOPLE’s “Best in Film” and “Best in TV” Specials on ABC and “Project Accessory” on Lifetime.
She was the driving force and an executive producer of the December 2014 NBC special “The PEOPLE Magazine Awards,” a broadcast partnership with Dick Clark Productions celebrating the cultural forces of the year.
Nancy was responsible for creating the innovative program that positioned a standalone PEOPLE.com digital broadcast platform alongside traditional networks on award show red carpets including the Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Grammys, the Oscars and the Emmys. She also managed the group’s media and marketing partnerships with The Screen Actors Guild, The Recording Academy, The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Country Music Association. She also managed the group’s multi-year partnership with Major League Baseball that included the “Tribute for Heroes” Campaign. In 2003 she first joined Time Inc. as Vice President, Corporate Communications for the PEOPLE Group.
Prior to joining PEOPLE, Nancy was Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing/Business Development at Christie’s, the global fine arts auction house. In her 12 years at Christie’s, she held several positions, including SVP, Marketing for the Americas, where her reporting departments included public relations, special events, creative services, Christie’s Magazine U.S. editorial group, proposals/new business marketing and marketing finance. She also managed the Communications team (with outside counsel) through the Christie’s/Sotheby’s anti-trust investigation.
In early 2000, she was named Senior Vice President of Digital, and drove the launch team for christies.com, credited with many early innovations including custom video, LotFinder, artist documentaries and live bidding. Nancy joined Christie’s in 1991 and established Popular Arts, a new collecting area and division of the company. As Vice President and Department Head, she directed the auctions and international marketing programs for collecting categories including Sports, Film, Music, Television and Celebrity Memorabilia. Considered one of the foremost experts in these areas, Valentino has overseen the presentation at auction of thousands of costumes, uniforms, photographs, original posters, film scripts, props and important artifacts.
In 1999 she orchestrated the record-breaking sale of and authored The Personal Property of Marilyn Monroe, and returned to Christie’s in 2011 as a special consultant for her former client and the blockbuster auction “The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor.”
Nancy has structured sales and events for Barbra Streisand, DRESSES for Diana, Princess of Wales, Elton John’s Candle in the Wind Lyrics to benefit Los Angeles Children’s Hospital, Eric Clapton’s Guitars to benefit Crossroads and Unforgettable: Fashion of the Oscars to benefit amFAR. Valentino has appeared on 20/20, The Today Show, The View, CNN, Good Morning America, CBS Early Show, ET and Access Hollywood among many others.
Prior to Christie’s, Valentino spent several years in the entertainment and finance industries. After attending New York University, she began her career with Goldman Sachs in Institutional Sales and was one of only ten women on the floor of the American Stock Exchange at that time. Nancy also worked in London and New York as Director of Client Management for IPC Communications. She continues to lend her auction and event expertise to many charity organizations including The Martell Foundation, The Motion Picture and Television Fund, The Actors Fund, SAG, The Elizabeth Taylor Aids Foundation, The Recording Academy and Safe Horizon. A native New Yorker, she lives in Manhattan with her husband and daughter.
A passionate researcher, Megan has led Julien's cataloging department since December 2006. She is a Minneapolis native and holds a degree in Art History from the University of Minnesota. Megan brings to Julien's a varied background of Art Education, Event Planning, Public Relations and Marketing. A graduate of the Reppert School of Auctioneering, she is also a licensed auctioneer in the State of Minnesota.
Hillary inherited her interest in the film industry from her father, who worked for MGM for over 40 years beginning in 1929. Hillary has worked with many well known film directors, producers and writers. She also partnered in a very successful independent production company for over 20 years, producing the films as well as running the office and handling business affairs. It was during this period that she received an Academy Award nomination and became a member of the Academy, where she serves on several Executive Committees. In her spare time, Hillary is puppy-raising Edison, a yellow Labrador Retriever, for Guide Dogs of America, as well as doing volunteer work at the Hollywood Ronald McDonald House. She is delighted to have become a member of Julien's Auctions staff as the Office Administrator which enables her to assist in the many facets of setting up the auctions.
Summer has been passionate about photography since she was young. She shot her first roll of film, which was entirely of her dog, when she was eight years old. She attended Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara where she attained a B.A. in Professional Photography. While working for Bonhams & Butterfields, she continued her interest and development as an exhibiting fine art photographer. In 2011 she joined the Julien's team where she brings her enthusiasm, experience, and love of creative photography to the company.
Gaby Douek was born and raised in Lima, Peru. She worked at the American Embassy in Lima before moving to New York. In New York, she worked at the United Nations as a Personal Assistant, first in the Office for Research and Collection of Information for the Secretary-General and then in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Gaby is bilingual. She enjoys photography and travelling. and has visited many countries in Europe. Gaby moved to Los Angeles in 2011 and joined Julien’s Auctions in June 2012 to work as an Executive Assistant.
Darcie Mena was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She joined the Julien's staff in April 2011. Having previously worked for a bank and two accounting firms, she gained the comprehensive skills in client services and acquired strong accounting knowledge which she continues to apply to her roles of accounting at Julien's.
Isabel Yeo was born and raised in Singapore, where her family continues to reside today. Isabel loves to travel and has visited numerous countries in Europe, Asia, as well as various cities in the U.S, Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. She attended Choate Rosemary Hall, a boarding school in Connecticut at the age of sixteen, and moved to Los Angeles in 2006. Isabel began her studies in Art History, French, and Business Administration as a freshman at the University of Southern California. While in college, Isabel interned and worked part-time at various art galleries in Los Angeles, as well as Christie's and Bonham's. Her interest in gemology and the jewelry market has led her to pursue a Gemological Graduate degree at the Gemological Institute of America. Isabel joined the Julien's family in January 2011.
Jennifer Lorenzi is from Miami, FL and has earned degrees at Florida State University while studying in London, England (B.A., Art History) and Istituto Marangoni,in Milan, Italy (Intensive Diploma Fashion Design). Jennifer previously worked at Kerry Taylor and Augusta auction houses as well as with top New York designers, stylists, art galleries and museums. She currently specializes with the costume and fashion collections at Julien’s Auctions.
Raised in a family of antique collectors, Mitchell Kaba early on developed a passion for historical objects. When his friends were spending their money on candy and video games, Mitchell was investing in first issue comics. His fascination for history and culture later inspired him to live in such diverse locals as New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, Alaska, Bangkok and Istanbul. Along the way he honed his skills as a researcher through work on various projects, including curating rare books to recreate the Antarctic library of explorer R.F. Scott for The Museum of Natural History. Mitchell is a graduate of the appraisal studies program at NYU and has successfully completed the USPAP course and exam, highlighting the Congressionally recognized set of appraisal standards promulgated by the Appraisal Foundation. His specialties include fine and decorative art, prints, books, photographs, acetate films and audio recordings.
Dan Nelles was raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and developed a love of sports and sports memorabilia at a very young age. Having been born into a family of sports lovers, as well as one with entrepreneurial spirit, Dan started his first sports memorabilia company at the age of sixteen. From there, Dan went on to aid in the development of Toronto sports memorabilia institutions Legends of The Game and Pro League Sports Collectibles. After graduating and receiving his B.A. in Communication Studies from The University of Windsor, Dan earned a position at The Sports Network (TSN) — Canada's equivalent of ESPN. In 2011, Dan brought his enthusiasm, expertise and over 25 years of experience in the sports memorabilia marketplace to Julien's Auctions as he was welcomed in the position of Sports Specialist. For Julien's, Dan's responsibilities include sports consignment acquisitions and client services, as well as managing all production aspects for Julien’s sports auctions.
Ricardo (Ricky) Limon was born and raised in California. Ricky comes to Julien's with an extensive background in warehouse management, most recently the Estate of Michael Jackson. In 2010, Ricky joined the Julien's team.
Nate Hebron was born and raised in Carlinville, Illinois. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois, where he studied writing and American history. His deep passion for film, music, sports, and pop culture in general makes working for Julien’s Auctions an ideal occupation. Prior to joining the Julien’s team, Nate managed the warehouse for Bonhams & Butterfields where he gained the extensive experience and varied skills necessary to meet the logistical demands of the high energy world of auctions. With Julien’s, he has prided himself on being versatile and has been very pleased to take part in each step of guiding product from consigner to buyer, be it as a property receiver, handler, researcher, cataloguer, or shipper.
