HOLLYWOOD: PROPERTY FROM THE OSIANAMA ARCHIVES

Join Julien’s in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 8 for a blockbuster auction featuring Property from the Osianama Archives, an outstanding, award-winning collection of some of the world’s most important film memorabilia and artwork. Items in this historic auction will be available for the first time, representing nearly 100 years of classic Hollywood in all its glory.

The Osianama Archives is the renowned archive-library-collection of world cinema built and housed by Osian’s, India’s pioneering arts and cultural institution and auction house, founded by eminent arts and culture scholar-entrepreneur Neville Tuli in 2000. The vast collection curated by Tuli consists of more than 200,000 original objects of production items, film publicity material and memorabilia and serves as an unrivalled center of knowledge, learning, education and cultural history.

Over 800 pieces will be offered including: a full-size screen used figure of Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Terminator from Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) (estimate: $50,000-$80,000); an original French Grande (style A) poster for King Kong (1933) (estimate: $30,000-$40,000); a cast resin maquette of the Queen from Aliens (1986) (estimate: $20,000-$30,000); a Walter Plunkett costume sketch for the famous green dressing gown worn by Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With The Wind (1939) (estimate: $15,000-$20,000) (shown top photo left); a large Tyrannosaurus rex display figure from The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997) (estimate: $15,000-$25,000); American six-sheet film posters for Jezebel (1938) (estimate: $10,000-$20,000); Flying Deuces (1939) (estimate: $10,000-$20,000); Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) (estimate: $15,000-$25,000); a life-size figure of Danny DeVito in character as The Penguin, from Batman Returns (1992) (estimate: $15,000-$25,000); a lobby card for Fritz Lang’s film Metropolis (1927) (estimate: $8,000-$12,000) among six other rare artworks; an animatronic penguin soldier from Batman Returns (1992) (estimate: $8,000-$10,000); an American 40x60 poster for Breakfast at Tiffany’s starring Audrey Hepburn (1961) (estimate: $8,000-$12,000); a study model of the Brachiosuarus produced for Jurassic Park (1993) (estimate: $6,000-$8,000) and an Italian four-sheet poster for the Humprey Bogart film classic Il Mistero del Falco (The Maltese Falcon) (Warner Bros.) (estimate: $6,000-$8,000). Also included are nine, rare lobby cards for Buster Keaton’s film The General (1926) (estimate: $5,000-$7,000); six lobby cards (title card included) and one 8x10 photograph for the silent film Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans (1927) winner at the first Academy Awards for Unique and Artistic Picture (estimate: $6,000-$8,000); an animatronic alien bust from Alien 3 (1992) (estimate: $4,000-$6,000) and an original treatment script by Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick for 2001: A Space Odyssey.
