Julien’s Auctions presents Marilyn Monroe, Marlene Dietrich, Lucille Ball, Gloria Swanson, Marion Davies, Angelina Jolie and Lady Diana starring in a one-of-a-kind auction. Items from these legendary ladies of style and substance will be sold as part of Julien’s Auctions Hollywood Legends 2011 Auction.
Offered in this historic auction are private correspondence from Marlene Dietrich to her husband as well as rare candid photographs and signed portrait photographs including a vintage image by Irving Penn. A collection of items from the Queen of Comedy, Lucille Ball, will be sold including clothing, letters, scripts, photographs and her 1980 Town & Country station wagon. Modern legend and style icon Angelina Jolie wore a stunning necklace to the premiere of her film Salt. When you purchase this necklace that contains 475 diamonds, you will also be benefit Jolie’s charity, The Educational Partnership for Children in Conflict. Items from the career and life Marilyn Monroe, including the dress she can be seen wearing on the cover of the limited-edition Hollywood Legends catalog, are among the items for sale. A true lady, Lady Diana, had an unrivaled royal style. Two of her gowns are offered for sale by the Wedding Channel, who will follow in Diana’s footsteps by offering the proceeds to charity.
If glamour and elegance are not your style the selection of science fiction props and costumes may be more to your liking. Julien’s Auctions has partnered with NBC to auction items from the hit series Heroes and The Cape. Also among the science fiction offerings are items from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, costumes worn by the cast of the film Serenity, Gremlins props and rarely seen items from the Indiana Jones franchise. If television history is more your speed then it is a “Sunshine Day” for you! Costumes worn by Cindy and Bobby Brady from the original Brady Bunch series and tour performances will be sold.
The genius of Norman Rockwell is uncovered in the many reference photographs he took to prepare for his subject. Julien’s offers newly discovered staging photograph negatives being sold with copyright. The original vintage photographs feature: Frank Sinatra, Ann-Margret, Bing Crosby and the everyday people in his life which became immortalized in his artwork.
