About The Auction:

An impressive array of drawings and celluloids of beloved characters, from 1930's era Mickey Mouse and Disney classics such as Snow White, Bambi and Pinocchio, to Warner Brothers favorites Bugs, Daffy, Porky and Wile E. Coyote by renowned artists Leon Schlesinger, Virgil Ross, Chuck Jones, and Robert McKimson, up to contemporary favorites the Simpsons are among the many choice selections in this single owner collection offered in a rare purchasing opportunity as an absolute sale to the public.

An original pen and ink Disney comic strip from the 1930's featuring Mickey Mouse by Ub Iwerks with a Walt Disney signature (est: $20,000/30,000) is among the top offerings in the sale. Also featured are many original concept paintings for Cinderella by Mary Blair, including a set of four framed together illustrating Cinderella with Prince Charming and the Castle (est: $10,000/15,000), and a framed pair depicting Cinderella scrubbing the floor and the Fairy Godmother waving her wand over the Pumpkin (est: $8,000/10,000), among many others. Additional concept paintings presented feature multiple lots of Eyvind Earle's artwork for Sleeping Beauty, including a spectacular set illustrating Maleficent in the Castle paired with the Dragon Felled by a Sword (est: $10,000/15,000). A delicate pen, ink and watercolor concept painting from Snow White depicting Snow White and the Prince at the Well (est: $4,000/6,000) will be offered. Other original artwork includes multiple storyboards from Tim Burton's The Nightmare before Christmas (low estimates from $800 to $3000).

Along with these original works of art, the Wonderful World of Animation sale showcases many matted and framed hand painted celluloids, with estimates ranging from $400 on up. Highlights include a variety of celluloids with Courvoisier backgrounds from the following Disney classics: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, depicting Snow White in the Forest with Animals (est: $10,000/12,000), The Queen Holding the Heart Box (est: $8,000/10,000), the Witch (est: $4,000/6,000) and Dopey (est: 3,000/4,000).
